Check the official visitor information

Start with a small loop, not a mileage target

Choose a section that suits your energy and conditions. Notice three things you would normally walk past. The aim is time outside together, not completing the entire grounds.

Bring a pause with you

Pack water and a layer for the weather. Decide when to head back before setting off; our time allowance is an editorial suggestion, not a measured route.

Make any extra stop a separate choice

Food, drinks and paid programs are optional. This plan does not rely on a café being open or promise an all-in travel budget.

If the day changes

For heavy rain, consider Central Library, whose Sunday hours are 1–5 pm. Its linked plan is a Saturday example; use Sunday hours and arrange a separate journey. The art museum is closed Sundays.
