Early voting, no excuse needed: October 29 to 31

Any registered Fayette County voter who has not requested a mail-in absentee ballot can vote early in person. The Clerk lists early voting on “The Thursday, Friday and Saturday before Election Day,” 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and the State Board of Elections lists those days for 2026 as Thursday to Saturday, October 29 to 31. You get the ballot for your own precinct at whichever vote center you choose.

The six library vote centers

The Clerk lists six Lexington Public Library branches as vote centers for early voting and Election Day: Beaumont Branch Library, 3080 Fieldstone Way, 40513; Central Library, 140 East Main Street, 40507; Eastside Branch Library, 3000 Blake James Drive, 40509; Northside Branch Library, 1733 Russell Cave Road, 40505; Marksbury Family Branch Library, 2197 Versailles Road, 40504; Tates Creek Library, 3628 Walden Drive, 40517.

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 6 am to 6 pm

On Election Day the Clerk lists voting from 6 am to 6 pm at your assigned precinct location or at any of the six library vote centers, where you still vote your precinct’s ballot. The Clerk’s Elections Department can help you find where to vote at 859-255-8683.

What ID to bring

The Clerk’s voter ID page says you can show a photo ID with your name issued by the Kentucky state government, the U.S. federal government, the U.S. military, Merchant Marines or Kentucky National Guard, a U.S. college or university, or a Kentucky city or county government. If you do not have one of those, you can still vote by filling out a voter affidavit at the polls and showing any other photo ID with your name, including an out-of-state ID.

Voters with disabilities

The Clerk says every polling place has ADA-approved voting machines. You can bring someone to help you vote or ask election officers for help; if you get help, a Voter Assistance Form (SBE 31), available at the voting location, is filled out before you receive a ballot. The Clerk also describes a disability absentee portal that you request access to through the Clerk’s office.

If you cannot vote in person on those days

The Clerk lists options for voters with a qualifying excuse. In-person absentee voting is at the Clerk’s office, 162 East Main Street, 8 am to 4:30 pm, during the six business days before the Thursday before Election Day; the State Board of Elections lists October 21 to 23 and 26 to 28 for 2026. Mail-in ballot applications had to be in at least 14 days before the election, and the State Board lists the request portal closing October 20. A completed mail ballot goes back to the Clerk’s office by 6 pm on Election Day. There are also separate rules for military and overseas voters and for a medical emergency within 14 days of the election. Each page below says who qualifies.
