Lexington Pride Center

The Lexington Pride Center says its mission is "to celebrate and empower the intersectional lives of LGBTQIA+ Kentuckians." Founded in 1977, it calls itself the oldest LGBTQIA+ organization in Kentucky and runs Lexington's LGBTQIA+ community center "at no cost to those we serve." The center is at 389 Waller Avenue, Suite 100, between Harrodsburg and Nicholasville roads near the University of Kentucky campus. It is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm. The center lists a wheelchair-accessible entry and bathroom and free on-site parking close to the door, and says the nearest bus stop is on Harrodsburg Road near St. Joseph's Hospital. Accessibility requests go to office@lexpridecenter.org, and the phone number is (859) 253-3233.

Free services at the center

The People's Market is the center's "free weekly food pantry serving LGBTQIA+ people, their families, and allies." Households sign up through the application on its page and can pick up food once each week. The Pride Library has more than 2,000 books, CDs and DVDs, and the center calls it Central Kentucky's largest LGBTQIA+ lending library, with an online catalog for holds. The PowerOn Computer Lab has two desktop and three laptop computers, free for visitors during drop-in hours after a short application and user agreement, plus free wifi and charging ports. The center also lists Cultivating Pride, its community education and training.

Support groups at the center

The center's events page lists these recurring groups. Heart to Heart, a discussion group for LGBTQIA+ adults, meets Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. The QPoC Unity Group (Queer Persons of Color Unity) meets the first Thursday at 6:30 pm. SIP (Seasoned Independent People) is a monthly dinner on the third Friday at 7 pm that started for people over 50 and now has "all ages welcome." TransKentucky, a social support group for transgender and gender non-binary people, meets the first Saturday at 7:30 pm; supportive friends and family are welcome "as long as they hold the space for queer voices." A Board Game Group meets the second Sunday at 6:30 pm. The center also runs a Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) for youth ages 13 to 19; see the center's GSA page for details. The center says its groups "are led by a community member and may be cancelled at last minute," and points to its Facebook and Instagram pages for the latest.

LGBTQIA+ events across Central Kentucky

The Pride Center keeps a Community Events Calendar it calls "the one-stop-shop for central Kentucky's LGBTQIA+ community," with listings "from drag shows to fundraisers to bingo nights to networking hours and more." Organizers can submit their own events there. Around Lex links to that calendar instead of copying it, so check each listing, including any age limit its organizer sets, on the calendar itself.

Every June: Pride Month at the Lexington Public Library

The library's Pride page says, "Join us throughout June as we celebrate Pride Month," with special events, staff book picks, podcasts and digital archives. When we checked on October 21, 2026, the library's event calendar had no Pride or LGBTQ+ programs in the next 60 days. Two things on the Pride page work in any month. The LGBTQ+ History Walking Tour is an audio tour of downtown Lexington's historic LGBTQ+ places, covering 1.6 miles, available as one MP3 or as separate tracks with a downloadable map. Tales from the Kentucky Room is the library's podcast, where librarians interview local artists, poets, activists and educators about LGBTQ+ life, art and history in Lexington. The page also links digital archive collections, including the Aunt Tiny Belle Community Collection of LGBTQ+ events and places in Lexington and Louisville from 1983 to 1999.

UK Office of LGBTQ* Resources

The University of Kentucky office calls itself "a hub to help you find connection, support and community at UK." It works with students, faculty, staff and alumni and says it partners "with local organizations across Lexington and the Commonwealth." Its services page lists a Community Room for students, the Lesch Lending Library, which it keeps "available to readers of all ages," optional 90-minute SafeZone workshops and a list of single-user restrooms on campus. The office's Meet Our Team page lists its location as 160 Avenue of Champions, A-250. For help connecting with community resources, the office gives lgbtq@uky.edu, and its phone number is (859) 218-4816.

Lexington Pride Festival: June 5, 2027

The festival's site lists the next Lexington Pride Festival for Saturday, June 5, 2027, from noon to 10 pm on Oliver Lewis Way, between South Broadway and High Street. The Pride Center calls it "open to all - all ages, genders, abilities, identities, races, and ethnicities," and the festival is the center's largest fundraiser.

As of 2026: The festival FAQ said the festival was free with a suggested donation of $10 per attendee, that there was no designated festival parking, and that a free shuttle ran from the courthouse plaza to Oliver Lewis Way. The FAQ still shows the 2026 date, so check the festival's own page for 2027 details before you go.
